IELTS Preparatory course

CourSE Objectives

This course is designed to prepare students for the International English Language Test System (IELTS) paper, which is jointly managed by the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations, British Council and IDP Education Australia. It helps candidates familiarize themselves with the test format and allows them to practise the language skills necessary to perform well in the test. It covers the four modules (i.e. Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking) covered in the IELTS paper. Class size is kept small to ensure personal attention.

Vocabulary
Listening Module
- Developing Effective Listening Skills
- Taking Notes
Reading Module
- Interpreting various Texts or Genre
- Identifying Key Points for Cloze Passages.
Writing Module
- Organisation of Ideas and Planning of Writing Tasks
- Report Writing Skills ? Interpreting and Describing Visual Aids (i.e. Graphs, Tables and Charts)
- Argumentative Essay Writing Skills
- Letter Writing Skills
Speaking Module
- Pronunciation and Articulation
- Participating in Discussions
- Making Presentations

Teaching material

Material for the course is taken from IELTS textbooks and Audio CDs. Supplementary material is trainer’s own. Test Practice questions are based on past test and Specimen Material.

COURSE DURATION & SCHEDULE

The course consists of a total of 30 hours spread over 12 lessons

ADMISSION CRITERIA

Applicants must possess the following requirements:

?Advanced Competency in English, or
?C5 Pass Grade for English at GCE 'O' / ‘N?Levels
?16 years of age and above

COURSE FEES

(The course fee quoted is for a minimum of 6 participants)

S$870 per student (inclusive of all course materials)
