From the Editor

The first issue of the District 80 Newsletter “DO IT NOW” is available from the District website at www.district80.org

The focus of the District 80 Newsletter is to highlight the accomplishment of educational and membership goals for the District, and to feature events and celebrations that are significant to Toastmasters in District 80. In this issue, we feature an article on the first event organised by the LGET’s Education and Training Task Force “How to conduct Quality Speech Contests”. The issue also includes an article on one of the first clubs chartered in District 80 to highlight the importance of new clubs to the District.

Many of the articles and photographs of these significant events were contributed by the Toastmasters in the various Divisions in District 80. Future issues of the District newsletter will continue to feature newsworthy events from across the District. We look forward to your contributions of articles and photographs events related to educational and membership goals from our members across the District.

One of the challenges in producing this newsletter was to decide on the masthead or name of the newsletter. Toastmasters in District 80 were asked to submit their suggestions for the name of the District Newsletter. We received entries from several Toastmasters- Gurmit Singh, Eskay Ng, Lim Phai Ik, Thomas Chen and Kan Kin Fung. After due consideration by the panel of judges, it was decided that the District theme was the most appropriate masthead for the District 80 Newsletter – DO IT NOW.

Look out for the next issue of the District newsletter which will feature articles on the Reno Convention, Toastmasters International Day celebrations and articles from the Toastmasters of District 80.
